How to spot a fake watch
Most watch sets are a watch in a nicer box. I wanted this one to be everything you need from the first day: the watch, a second look, somewhere safe to keep it, and the story behind why rectangular watches matter.
The Amorous Set contains four pieces: One Amorous Barcelona automatic watch, one extra strap of your choice, the SÖNER leather travel case and the book Beyond Round Watches as a PDF. Bought separately, they cost $1020. As a set, you pay $899.
1. The watch: Amorous Barcelona. A 28 x 40 mm rectangular automatic watch in polished hardened stainless steel with a minimalistic Onyx black dial, a sweeping second hand and a date window at three o'clock. Inside is the Swiss Sellita SW100A automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, under sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It is 10 mm thin and water resistant to 5 ATM, and it arrives on a polished steel bracelet.
2. Extra strap: Gatsby Collection. ANY 20 mm Gatsby strap in genuine cow leather and a tang buckle or a steel bracelet. With quick-release pins, you switch from steel bracelet to leather strap in seconds, so the same watch goes from office to evening.
3. The travel case: SÖNER Travel Case. Made from crazy horse leather with a brass zip and two microfibre-lined pockets, so there is room for this watch and one more. It measures 15 x 8.5 x 3 cm and fits in any bag.
4. The book: Beyond Round Watches (PDF). The book I wrote about the history of rectangular watches, with archival material shared by Rolex, Cartier, Breguet and Longines. It is the story of why the 100-year habit of round watches was never the only option, and why SÖNER exists.
I put this set together so you have everything from day one: the watch, a second look, somewhere safe to keep it, and the story behind it.

A Bold, Balanced Design
I could have bought any watch I wanted, regardless of price, and I chose the Amorous Sydney. Why? Because Freddie absolutely nailed the design. It’s a rare piece that blends masculine strength with a refined elegance, that balance is hard to get right, and Soner pulled it off.

Fair priced rectangular watch
When you are shopping for a good quality rectangular watch, options are more limited, and sometimes you get stuck between very expensive or very unatractive options.
